Best Original Performances on Broadway: Star-Making

The show is not booked for long, but the original performances on Broadway are the most significant, especially when a show is on the line and not just any show.

Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton)

Lin-Manuel Miranda is a well-rounded talent, and here’s the best original cast on Broadway. The success of a play depends largely on the quality of the performers, not only on their performances but also on their ability to make a first impression. Finance Minister Alexander Hamilton won 12, narrowly breaking the record set by “The Producers.”

It received a huge audience and a lot of applause from critics, only to lose to Leslie Odom Jr. in “The Actors’ Association of America.” It was a hard-working, clever, and talented cast with a great sense of humor and was well-received by both critics and audiences.

Idina Menzel (Wicked)

Wicked was so popular that Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth (who originally played Glinda) won high praise for their portrayal of the Wicked Witch. In addition to her role as Wicked, she also starred in a number of other musicals, including “The Wizard of Oz” and “Hamilton.”

Menzel won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in “Wicked” and was also nominated for a Tony Award for that performance.

Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen)

Evan Hansen is a pretty tough and complex character and it takes some serious skill to pull it off. After all, being a depressed, socially awkward teenager can be quite a challenge when you’re one yourself.

Ben Platt proved his class in the 2016 Broadway hit with his performance as Evan Hansen in the original cast of the show.

Platt managed to keep the audience’s smiles off his face and was awarded the 2017 Tony Award for Best Actor for his performance. Can a single role help your career to glory, or does the future lie ahead? Ben is still very young and just turned 27, but he is said to be very, very bright and only a few years away from his 20th birthday. As a protagonist like the one mentioned above, Evan goes through a lot and he has to go through everything.

Sarah Brightman (Phantom of the Opera)

Sarah Brightman, who played Christine Daae in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, which is on Broadway at Capital C, has been stratospheric throughout her career. When was the first time you were afraid of her and how was it for you?

You have achieved success as an actress and singer, but have you ever been afraid of the success you have achieved as an actress/singer?

The above are some of the biggest superstars in the Broadway world, and their individual acting skills are critical to the best original performances on Broadway.

Have you ever heard of Spamilton?
